Death of the Holder of Retail Products

According to the applicable law, in the event of the death of the holder of savings certificates (CA) or treasury certificates (CT), the heirs have a deadline to request the transfer of ownership of these or their redemption, under penalty of the value being forfeited in favor of the Public Debt Restructuring Fund (FRDP).

 

Information will be provided after the death of the holder has been confirmed and upon presentation of their identification documents, which must include the taxpayer identification number and the civil identification number (identity card and taxpayer card or citizen card, hereinafter referred to as ID and TAX Number or CC)

 

IGCP, in the context of the heirship process, will issue a declaration of CA or CT held by the deceased holder at the date of their death, which must be requested by any of the heirs, with their heir status duly verified, from any entity using Modelo 710. The signature must be validated by the entity or recognized by the legally authorized entities for this purpose (notaries, registrars, record officers, lawyers, solicitors, chambers of commerce recognized under Decreto-Lei nº 244/92, de 29 de outubro), accompanied by the death certificate and simple copies of the identification documents (ID and TAX Number or CC) of the deceased holder and the requesting heir.

Transfer of savings products

The request for the transfer of savings products is formalized through the completion of the specific form, modelo 706, made available by IGCP, and must be signed in person by all heirs, or by those legally representing them, including attorneys with specific powers for the act, presenting a power of attorney in accordance with the provisions set forth in the Instrução IGCP n.º 1/2023 and Instrução IGCP n.º 4/2024.

 

The in-person signature referred to in the previous paragraph may be made at the entity that received the form or before a legally authorized entity for this purpose (notaries, registrars, record officers, lawyers, solicitors, chambers of commerce recognized under Decreto-Lei nº 244/92, de 29 de outubro).

Charges for the services provided by the IGCP will be the amounts established in Instrução IGCP, E.P.E. n.º 1/2024.
