Update of Personal Data and Conversion of Savings Certificates - Series A, B, and D
Updating personal identification data is mandatory, so it is important to ensure that the information in your Savings Account is accurate and up to date.
Having accurate, complete, and up‑to‑date personal data is essential to avoid the risk of prescription of Certificates, as they cannot be redeemed if the holder’s information is not updated.
You can verify whether all your information is updated/registered by performing a quick check on AforroNet.
If you need to update any information (for example, your name, residential address, occupation, or employer), you must go in person to CTT – Correios de Portugal or to one of the following Citizen's Shops, bringing the necessary supporting documents.
Further information on the relevant legislation and required documentation can be found here.
Information for Savings Account holders
The conversion of paper‑based certificates is essential to strengthen the security of Savings Accounts (Conta Aforro), ensure the proper identification of their holders, and modernize the older series of savings products.
» Explanatory Document on the Conversion Process (Savings Certificates – Series A, B, and D)
If the holder is unable to appear in person at the designated locations — particularly when the holder resides abroad—the power of attorney template provided for this purpose must be used. Through this instrument, the holder of the Savings Account (Conta Aforro) grants authority to an attorney‑in‑fact to update personal information and to carry out all actions necessary to complete the conversion of the account on their behalf.
