1940 - 1959

In 1940, to commemorate eight centuries of nationality and three hundred years of restoration, Portugal organized the Exposition of the Portuguese World. That same year, the Consolidated Loan of the Centenaries 4% - 1940 was issued.

In 1941, the issuance of the Consolidated 3½% - 1941 was launched, featuring illustrations by renowned artist Almada Negreiros.

Since 1900, the Board had commissioned notable Portuguese plastic artists to design loan titles. Among these artists were Almada Negreiros, Cottinelli Telmo, Ernesto Condeixa, João Vaz, and Rui Preto Pacheco, among others.

Following the war, the Government initiated Development Plans, with the first occurring in 1953. Within the scope of the II Development Plan (1959-1964), the 3½% Obligation Loan - II Development Plan - 1959 was issued.
